Wasafan,
I am glade that you are able to express yourself freely; I want to also remind you that you are entitle to your opinions. However, in all that you stated, I could not find in your statement something that is constructive and benefiting for the league and for the people who believe in improving the league. Secondly, such statement in your response to my request; I did not expect continuously negative responses from you, especial if you claim to once have believed in the league and its vision for the community. Please think of something that can lift as and move as forward. In addition, Please remember for next time; what could do to make this league continue serving the community.
Thank you,

"Get better referees, fewer teams"
That quote makes a ton of sense...You mean to tell me a referee makes a difference for you after you swear constantly at one and what I heard punched another official. You want to get rid of referees but you let a person who fights and strikes one back in yor league. That is poor decision making. I spoke to that official too. Your league is lucky it is not being sued and you'll be lucky if he comes back. You guys are the one who like your own officials so next summer you will get your own officials I am sure. The posts will continue until this so called Potland international community respects what is being put in front of them. A place to play, people to organize it and people to control it. Hell you even have a family selling food at the game. taking time out of their day to cook in their home and showcase their food. Alfred you ned to get a better grip of the league or better yet, join a league that is already established. That is the best idea. Go play in the other leagues in Portland, kick, spit, swear at one of those players or officials where I might add they have 2 officials because they want a controlled match and see how long you last.
My guess is you'll last as long as this league.

to Coaches,
can coaches please write, a little review of how this season ended, what could you have done to better or improved it and whether you would put a team in the league next year or not?
This also applies to everyone who was not a coach during this past season nor a player, but a person from a sideline. Please let share some more insight into how terrieble this season turnout.

Maybe the league is not dead. First, new field. The city will never pay to hav ethat one fixed and it is dangerous. Back bay is way better, and still a community field. Second, out of respect for the teams that respecteted the league and payed. A discount. Third, rules that are enforced especially pertaining to violence.
The reality is, people can't self police their behavior.

...(continued)... Believe me, if that field was in excellent shape, you would receive so much more interest from new teams and the league could even charge more for participation in the tournament. To enjoy soccer, besides good teammates, good ball and competition, you need to have a nice pitch to run on and not get hurt. Also I sign off under what Rich from Rev. said. Best of luck to you! mufasa

Alfred, You and the rest of organizers had really great intentions for the community of soccer but the majority of soccer community failed to meet what they agreed to in beginning. Your idea of having a coaches meeting will not work I can tell you that right now. The reason for that is obvious. Two thirds of the teams did not pay so... you'll probably be ignored if you try to contact them. I mean, you see this guest-book/message board; it used to be very active, but as the end of the tournament approached and once they heard of talk that all of the money needs to be paid, everyone vanished. I don't know which teams have paid and which haven't but it is clear that most of the teams have no character and don't care about this league and those are the teams which betrayed the league. Most of the people of this soccer community would like to play for free, want to win all the time because they believe this is a World Cup, most of the teams don't know how to lose respectfully so to relieve their frustration, why not attack a referee or player from another team (which they usually know or play against for years); everyone just wants and wants, and nobody wants to give something back. Don't we play soccer to enjoy ourselves and have some fun? What is wrong with people? You have to give in order to gain, there is no other way. I may come across a bit negative or sarcastic but this is reality. So... Alfred, if you are planning to have another tournament next year you should start advertising it early to have a lot of teams interested (let's say you get 14 or 15 teams interested next year). Then, you should set a deadline for payment before competition starts, that way the number of teams will drop to let's say 8 or maybe even 10. This way you will have all of the payments received and better quality of teams and with that much better quality of soccer. Also, another very important issue is the quality of that field. Believe me, if that field was in excellent shape,...
