  Rich from Rev,
thanks for clearing that up. I was a little confused because i saw that many teams joined the league this year and I didn't understand how the league would have less money when this year the teams had to pay more. I definately agree with you that Dave has been extremely nice and helpful in keeping the league together and organized. He has done a very good job in everything.

  Soccerfan24,

From what I've been told by Dave, who's been nice enough to try and finish running the league this year, there was far less money collected than what was needed to run the league with all the scheduled tournaments. Don't forget that (despite its poor quality), the city of Portland charges for the field, the refs cost, and there are a bunch of other small odds and ends that add up, especially when there are teams who weren't paying their dues.

  Kobe

how would you kill them if you barely beat the "sorry" revolution? How did your team only manage to
score one lucky goal against the revolution anyway? Did their goalie get in your way?

  Hi,
This league has had it's ups and downs. We have had a nice lady bring food (all of which should try, it's delicious!) and many more teams have joined to compete against one another. But What happened with the 4th of July tournament that never took place? If all the teams are playing a good amount of money to play, why wasn't there enough money for this tournament? Many people wanted to go see this game as they may have done last year, but instead it was cancelled. The worse thing is that it had been a very nice day for at least a couple teams to play! Well that was the past so it doesn't matter, but for next year can we at least try to have this tournaments as we've done in the past?
I also think that we have tried to make this league a better one with things like ID's but I feel that it was a bad idea because people are still breaking the rules by playing on different teams.
Thanks!

Please stop calling me names like assman and wiseass. You are destoying my fragile confidence.

I think we are getting someplace with our discussion. How good is the league? And what can make it better?

Best goalie: revolution?
Best defense: umpi?
Best midfield: Lewiston?
Best offense: guatamala?

Ryan from Revolution

we should have a full squad for the playoffs which we havent had for weeks!

I havent seen a keeper that I think is better then our first string keeper (he has missed most of the games)

Best midfielder is either the kid with the dreads on Lewiston, orange boots on UMPI, or green boots on Guatamala.

I dont think I have seen anyone who sticks out as the best striker. There are plenty of good ones but nobody who sticks out like I have seen in other leagues.

  erik,
I like your idea of having less teams... let's say 8 would be a good number. I see a lot of good players spread around in less than mediocre teams. The team that left the league had this amazing player.. I think he was Colombian or something but it seems like he's not playing for any team now, and that's a shame because he's definitely one of the best I've seen in Portland area. Also team Mistfit has at least one very talented guy who simply have nobody to play with. It's a shame. Less teams would make this league so much more competitive. I'm telling you if there was one american team made of let's say UMPI and Revolution, two somalian team made of all defunct somalian teams, two or maybe three latino teams made of all the latino teams out there and let's say couple of international teams... this league would be sick. This way we have two, maybe three competitive teams. So I vote for having less teams and having the city to rebuilt that nasty field that players have to deal with. Actually... why don't we start some type of petition which would demand a new soccer field where people could play soccer for free because the back cove pick up games are becoming unbearable. There are so many people coming over there to play pick up soccer and they have to deal with stupid ultimate Frisbee people who somehow have right to kick out soccer players out of the field?!?!?!

  PUSL wiseman,

I agree with glasses. You need to get off the Guatemala bandwagon. I think you have an axe to grind against UMPI FC.
A win is a win as Glasses put it. Guatemala might pull a New England Patriots on you and probably will: i.e. Go undefeated during the season and fold when it really matters.
I can also assure you UMPI FC are a country mile better than the 3rd place team. As for Revolution there are not even in the same stratosphere. Revolution cannot score goals and there is a reason they can't. Go figure!
