in the back and if UMPI FC forwards can stop the profligacy in front of goal they can prevail because their defense can be watertight. Their scoreline against the Revolution was deceiving and probably flattering as they should have beat them by a clear two goals or so. Lord knows they created enough chances against Club Deportivo which their forwards kept spurning Kobe being the main the culprit. Those were absolute sitters! These cats were missing when it was easier to score than miss. One of the Twins scored a humdinger with a freekick that left the keeper rooted to the spot.
Methinks I will stop exposing my wit, wisdom or severe case of foot in mouth disease, before some pitchfork waving yokel gets excited on here and decides to runs me out of the back bay field, where I intend to be rooted like a fixture, during the playoffs. Remember though "Just cause you put syrup on shit don't make them pancakes."

As the Portland United Soccer League heads into the final regular season weekend as an observer I wanted to put my two pennies worth. "They say "a penny for your thoughts" and I've always wondered who is making a penny on that deal, lol. I will try to keep this brief so I don't prevaricate about them of the superfluous assertions; Deportivo. I think Guatemala Deportivo are the best team in the league because they tend to play as a unit and have talent sprinkled all through the side. UMPI FC is second best because the table never lies in a league format. North Atlantic, Revolution and Lewiston Stars are second tier.
It seems the prevailing thought by all and sundry that Guatemala Deportivo will win this title but moir begs to differ. Head to head, if they can keep their heads that is, I think UMPI FC can beat anyone. In fact they were well on their way to handing Guatemala their first loss when they met back in June were it not for the referee who negatively influenced the outcome the match by handing 3 red cards: all to UMPI FC. While UMPI play team ball and has some very good players they largely owe their lofty position to their defence. They arguably have the best defender in the league in Kachi. Though slight of size he is the heart and soul of their team. He is very vocal with his teammates but rarely with the referee. He has reads the games well, is an excellent passer and can quickly pick out midfielders to release. A great tackler when he wants to and a surprisingly good header of the ball. His partner in defense complements him perfectly and they usually make it very difficult for forwards. Their goalkeepers ones who have played to date have been really good. As you have probably surmised I used to kick strikers left and right for fun back in the day so I am partial to defenders. (Ahh, how I miss those days!). Offense fills the stands but defense wins you championships you dig? Guatemala Deportivo is offensively talented but suspect in ...

Kobe- Your team failed to dominate the Revolution, a mediocre team that can't put the ball in the back of the net. You are ranked second right now after a team called guatabuena, who just beat a pretty good team 8 to 0. You won't win the whole thing.

By the way, did anybody watch the Guatamala vs. El Salvador game. Are those players who got in the fight still suspended?

wow

From what I saw..kobe can't be go to guy up front.
He does not play back to the goal the correct way and for some reason despite the offiseds rule just can't figure that out either.
A poor operformance so ya if you can only get 1 goal off the team your "moms" can beat them it is time to get rid of Kobe up top.
It is funny to see the 2 twins boys think they are so superior. I think it is funny when they biach at each other..the only real player on that team and makes everyone else better is the center mid kid w/ the scar on his head.

He is the best player in teh league !!!!!!!!!!!

Umpi played much better than the revolution. The had possesion two thirds to three quarters of the game. Revolution did miss several goals too. While umpi was the better team there was not some total domination.

I'm just watching you...

I came out yesterday on a beautiful day to watch Rev Vs. UMPI and there was not much to see. I still stand by my prediction that Guatemala Deportivo is winning this tournament. Actually, I think that first three places will be taken by Latino teams. UMPI has a few solid players but overall is inexperienced and unorganized. They won only 1:0 against very tired looking (offense-less, idea-less) Revolution team. And if by any chance Revolution scored they might have even won the game against blabbermouth UMPI team. So really, Kobe.. a biggest upset? I don't think so. Revolution is not one of the top teams so don't get your hopes high. Be worried about top three Latino teams which will teach you how football is supposed to be played. Some of your teammates have talent and hunger to win this tournament but mark my words; It's not going to be enough :).
